In past, i realized that, i am mostly not successful in controlling the anger, one of the deadliest enemy of human beings, out of six enemies(desire, anger, greed, illusion, pride and jealousy).
Therefore i decided to choose the study of controlling the anger and started contemplating over it.
During period of contemplation i experienced that as long as individual self (ego) is present, it is very difficult to control the anger.
Sometimes, even we don't know when the anger has taken hold of us. Therefore it is absolutely very essential to be alert in this regard.
Following are the causes by which a person becomes angry ........
1. Desires are not fulfilled, shattering of expectations,
2. Facing insult or insulting situations due to some unforeseen reasons,
3. Personal fear or hate.
After regular time intervals, we have to continuously observe whether our mind is on the right path and going in the right direction.
By regular and continuous 'Self Observation' or 'Introspection' alertness is developed. We experience that by developing the alertness, it becomes quite easy to control the anger.
-> This week, starting from today, perform the penance of becoming witness to the anger whenever it arises. Pay attention as to how anger is rising when we are attached to special desire and outcome.
Therefore, when you sense that you are about become angry, try to soften your heart and analyse the anger creating situationby being separate from it. Also if any other person is angry over you, make an effort to endure it treating him as a form of God. Observe, as to how by becoming witness to anger, we deal with ourselves and others with softness, patience and love against Anger.
In Bhagvat Geeta, Lord Krishna says........
"By thinking about sense-objects, attachment with objects is created. Attachment gives rise to desire. If desire is not fulfilled, it results in anger. As soon as we become angry, we are deluded and don't know as to what we are doing and not doing. This confuses the memory. When memory is confused, it destroys reason. And when reason is destroyed, everything is destroyed."
Therefore at all cost we have to control the anger with intense desire, intense enthusiasm and promptness.
